Over 360,000 hectares of farmland in South Khorasan Province equipped with modern irrigation systems: Official
Tehran - Iran's Agriculture Ministry has implemented modern irrigation systems across 363,000 hectares of irrigated farmland in South Khorasan Province amid efforts to boost water efficiency in the face of growing shortages, a provincial official said.
According to Mohsen Esfandiari, the head of South Khorasan Province’s Agricultural Organization, due to limited water resources, the government has plans underway to give priority to high-efficiency irrigation methods that enhance productivity.
“The project in the province has been launched with over 16 billion tomans in government funding. To incentivize farmers to adopt modern irrigation technologies, the government offers grants of up to 29 million tomans per hectare for low-pressure irrigation systems and up to 102.9 million tomans per hectare for pressurized irrigation systems,” he said.
The senior official highlighted the critical role of advanced irrigation technologies, noting that since the project's inception, 42,000 hectares of agricultural land in South Khorasan Province have been equipped with these modern systems, positioning the province as one of the national leaders in this sector.
